Taipei 101

Opening the photo album, sorted up to 2017 now,

Recalling the words I’ve written, I realize,

So it’s been many years,

Actually, back then I really had no particular thoughts about age,

Just wanting to add something to life in these so-called times,

So I added weight to my backpack and hit the road,

A DSLR, a backpack, three phones, and that’s it,

Lazily snapping many photos of myself through the lens, keeping them as records,

All sorts of trivialities, all sorts of photos,

Those scenes never washed away—are they the true you,

Life isn’t that refined; it was never perfect anyway,

Or perhaps it has always been so.

That year, in September in Taipei,

Walking the long night road alone,

The warm light of the streetlamp falls on me,

Audio looping on repeat with my AKG earphones,

Brother Fatty once said, 「You’re just a psycho」

Nothing in my heart to console it,

Only “Life’s a Struggle” gives me much of that swagger…
