This World
One more year added.
Before the year ends, I should write something, say something.
Flipping through the words I wrote last year, the year before,
The sky wasn’t light yet,
Holding the heater, soaking in the alluring morning bustle,
Opened the phone’s notepad and wrote a few lines,
Grabbed my luggage and headed out the door.
Handing myself over to the busy rush,
Used to the feeling of being crushed by pressure every day,
Enjoying a life of wild thrill,
Actually, I’m quite a stranger to this city,
Yet I keep feeling I’ve truly lived in this city,
Memory holds illusions,
And what you get is a sense of security?
All just bullshit now,
Life and survival always keep a sense of distance.
Haven’t we already been living really, really, really seriously?
This year I met some people,
Some people don’t understand this truth,
The truly wise are all sincere people,
I’m so lucky, those lovely people,
Still, I want to thank you—thank you for accompanying me.
I caught a glimpse of stillness, of tenderness,
We’re still walking the road of finding ourselves,
Seeking affirmation amid confusion,
Seeking certainty in uncertainty,
Seeking a compass without a direction,
This world, in the end, must be seen by yourself.
See you all next year.
